Postcards 9/11 memorial

Strolling along Staten Island’s northern shore, you’ll find the Esplanade with views of Manhattan. A short walk from the Ferry Terminal, you’ll come across something special—Postcards. This memorial honors the 275 Staten Islanders who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

Dedicated on the third anniversary of that day in 2004, Postcards features two fiberglass structures shaped like postcards, as if sending messages to those we lost. Each person is remembered with a granite plaque bearing their name, birth date, and place of work. This was the first significant 9/11 memorial completed in New York City, offering a view of where the Twin Towers once stood.

Walking through this memorial, you can’t help but feel the memories and the love that fills this space. It’s a reminder of the resilience and spirit of Staten Island and the enduring bond we share with those who were taken too soon.
